Growing up in the UK as a first-generation immigrant, I wasn't aware of how differently I experienced the world compared to my friends. Now, as a parent, I appreciate how my upbringing in a traditional Chinese family has shaped my values, perspective, and sense of familial responsibility.
For years, I built a career in human resources with multinational corporations across fashion, retail, beauty, and hospitality in both the UK and Hong Kong. I cherished the one-on-one interactions and the opportunity to help others overcome challenges, big or small. Yet, as I pursued what I thought success meant, I began to sense that these achievements weren’t truly my own; they were expectations I’d adopted rather than authentic aspirations.
A personal tragedy in 2019 became the turning point that taught me the power of self-focus. I discovered that when we invest in ourselves, we become better equipped to support others—as a coach, parent, partner, and leader. I know it may sound cliché, but it's incredibly challenging to put yourself first when you’re used to prioritising others. That realisation inspired me to retrain as a coach and to further my studies with an MSc in Applied Positive Psychology, Organisations, and Leadership. That was the first time that I made a career choice based on what I truly wanted.
Guided by my core values and my character strengths of honesty, love, and a love of learning, I now dedicate my work to helping women unlock their full potential by embracing their authentic selves.
